It's such a great privilege for us to welcome you!
Hope your sister DeDe (with whom I stay in touch) will join us soon too!
Meanwhile, let me seize this fine opportunity to request both of you some Luther Snakeboy's photos sharing. Or some little anecdotes regarding your dad's career, if you please... It's up to you!
Really think Snakeboy Johnson's musical talent deserves all that kind of tributes!
Gratefully yours in advance! Best regards.
Hello,
Hope all is well with you.
I only have ONE sister and she lives in Detroit. My daddy Lucious, (Luther Georgia/Snake Boy Johnson) has one and ONLY one LEGAL daughter and that is me. It's unfortunate this other individual feels the need to be known using my father's name and contacting individuals giving false info and or trying to pass her self off as ME. Brinson is NOT her name!!! NOT COOL. Giving wrong info about my daddy is not cool either.
Since this forum is about my daddy, I will leave it at that. If anyone wants to contact me please feel free to do so.
Thank you again for keeping my daddy's name, music accomplishments alive. My daddy was a great man who passed away way to soon. Yes I have pictures of my daddy & I, these photos are not taped together or cut & paste, I have the real deal.
I don't take lightly when folks have to lie to be known, as I was lied to by the same person who is NOT my sister.
What is important to me is the correct info regarding my daddy is posted. His Legacy is passed from generations to generations. I so appreciate all the love from all regarding my daddy.
I've update my photo and as anyone can see I am the spitting image of my daddy.
Thanks much xoxoxo♥♥

Re: Luther "Snake Boy" Johnson
Don't you think it's better to let that rest where it is, Barbara Ann & Deborah ?
Each one has given her point of view and that's enough I guess.
In my opinion, and moreover coming from ladies, it would be ridiculous to pursue in such a bad way.
Now let's talk about Luther Johnson ! In a better frame of mind, please... As your father's memory should be celebrated !
Hi Barbara Ann,
In my own opinion most of your response is especially out of context. Sorry, Barbara Ann...
As Jipes told you both, on another topic, here is a music forum, not a place to settle 'family' disputes.
We ain't concerned about any conflicts of heredity. rights of heirs, or legatees. Those ones are private matters between Deborah and you, Barbara Ann. And none of us will venture to side with one or the other.
Who really cares to know which one is the legal daughter ? Nobody here, I'm sure !
It definitely doesn't interest us to know what are your respective last names, too.
As Georgia boy's fans we would prefer that each of you talk about your dad's career instead of reading naughty words such as 'lie' , 'legal', 'false info', and so on...
Unfortunelately I'm starting to realize that none of you is ready today to talk about Luther Snakeboy Johnson's life, mention some nice memories of your father, or share never-seen-before photos of him. I'm very sad to see this.
But I keep on hoping you will in a future time...

A very nice live video, indeed! Funky soul way of playing and singing the blues, too!
This is the first time I can see Luther 'Snake Boy' playing guitar in such a close-up shot*. Quite interesting to watch his finger guitar playing (especially without using any mediator pick). Great stuff!!!
I wonder on what french TV channel it was broadcasted? At that 1971-80 time, I was regularly following television programs devoted to rock-pop music but don't remember to have seen it.
And I don't really think it was filmed in France 1973. Maybe more in 1972, I guess, when Luther was recording in Bienne (Switzerland), on November the 27th (the same year), for Sonny Thompson actually appears playing piano on this ''Woman don't lie'' & ''Somebody loan me a dime'' gig , as same as noted on the Black & Blue album 'Born in Georgia' too.
Therefore we may presume probable other performing musicians of this short set are Emmett Sutton on bass & Bill Warren on drums, as also noted on 'Born in Georgia' credits (but unlike Thompson, I don't know their faces, sorry...).
But these two public takes are not the same as those recorded on the LP (which ones are longer versions, and not performed on stage, it seems).
So the mystery remains...
Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing, Dede!!!
* Another gig where Luther 'Snake Boy' Johnson previously appeared, this time with The Muddy Waters Blues band, shot during the American Folk Blues festival 1968, in Copenhagen:
Line-up: Muddy Waters/ guitar & vocals; Otis Spann/ keyboard; Luther 'Snake Boy' Johnson/ guitar; Pee Wee Madison/guitar; Sonny Wimberley/bass; SP Leary/drums; Paul Hoscher/harmonica

You have some very valid points Flovia... You know your Blues! Thanks for the post of the 1968 video! I first saw the Copenhagen Jazz Festival video when I visited my dad's family in Atlanta a few years back, and had to have a copy, so I bought the DVD off Amazon as soon as I returned home. Merci !!

Re: Luther "Snake Boy" Johnson
Oui, oui, l'album 'Lonesome in my bedroom' existe aussi en CD.
Il y a la version Black & Blue de 1987, avec, pour l'occasion, 11 titres (au lieu des 8 initiaux), dont 3 inédits ('She's my babe', 'They call me the popcorn man', 'Please give me that love'), tous enregistrés aux studios Barclay, le 18 Décembre 1975, à Paris.
Et puis, une réédition CD sous licence de chez Evidence (label US/ 1992), toujours avec les mêmes 11 titres, et un personnel identique; ainsi qu'une publication des éditions Atlas – collection 'Les génies du blues' (même track listing/ sortie 1993) ;
